About the Speaker: Tanya V. Marin, DNP, APRN, CPNP-PC/AC earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at The University of Texas at El Paso in 1997. In 2002, she received her Master of Science in Nursing degree as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in Primary Care from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. In 2015, she earned her Doctorate of Nurse Practice, and not long after, earned her Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Acute Care Post-Master’s Certificate, both from the University of Texas at El Paso. Dr. Marin has provided primary and acute care for pediatric patients at the border for more than 20 years. In 2015, Dr. Marin opened her own pediatric clinic in New Mexico, about a quarter-mile from the Texas state line and about 1 mile from the Mexico border. She serves the underserved area of southern New Mexico and El Paso, Texas. Throughout her career, Dr. Marin has taken care of immigrant children and their families and has become acutely aware of their struggles. It is part of her personal mission to help these children and their families, and educate both the families and community members to improve the health and overall outcome of these children.

About: Love at the Border (LATB) is a collaborative project created by the University of Texas Medical Branch School of Medicine's chapter of Gold Humanism Honor Society in response to the current humanitarian crisis at the US-Mexico border. LATB’s vision is to build relationships with organizations, such as Refugee Health Alliance, for the purpose of sustainable outreach and advocacy addressing the ongoing challenges faced by displaced people at the Mexico/US border.
